Nikelab x Sacai: movement as beauty

Nike and Japanese fashion studio Sacai teamed up for a collection that transformed classic mens designs from Nike's archive into beautiful sportswear for women. Lace, pleats and mesh are used for contrast by Chitose Abe, Sacai founder and designer, giving the pieces a modern edge.

Abe made movement the ornament by adding plissé sections to the back of the jackets. The pleating flaps and flutters when the garments are used for running, reminding us that fashion -and specially sportswear- are not made for digital display but for actual bodies that move.

Couture 2015 is all about the veils

With the usual Couture trends for spring (florals, pastels, etc) comes a very dramatic revival of veil covered faces. Be it the dark grunge Chanel flowers with mesh over their eyes, the hyperfemininity of Giambattista Valli or the Russian divas from Ulyana Sergeenko's catwalk, we have enough inspiration to enjoy this trend and cover our faces with drama. If you are interested, here is my Veil headpiece DIY.

DIY: Maleficent

This blogs continues its noble mission to inspire new Halloween costumes for women that don't need the words "sexy" or "slutty" in their name to justify their existence. Today I share with you an easy DIY for the Maleficent horns and my suggestions for an original approach to the whole look. Feel free to leave any questions you may have in the comments section and check out my other suggestions for a chic approach to Halloween

RAW for the Oceans feat. Pharrell

http://www.vestirdesentido.com/2014/09/raw-for-the-oceans-pharrell-williams-g-star-raw-plastic-eco.html

G-Star, Bionic Yarn and Pharrell Williams collaborate in a project to rid the ocean of plastic waste while making something beautiful. The result is a fashion collection curated by Pharrell that features awesome G-Star denim and adorable sea creatures swimming all over it.

Instant trend: STAR WARS

Thanks to Rodarte and Preen we're all talking about jedis and sith lords. I would say it's an interesting move from Disney, connecting fashion runways to the franchise, but I would also add that there is a very rich inspiration in the whole aesthetic of the Star Wars saga, beyond dresses with Darth Vader's helmet or C-3PO printed on them.
It would be great to see the Star Wars trend running a little deeper.

DIY: 1920s Flapper dress

http://www.vestirdesentido.com/2013/10/1920-flapper-dress-vestido-DIY.html

While in Madrid, I bought some black fringe and I really wanted to use it. I thought it would make an interesting option for a Halloween DIY.

Flapper dresses were really scandalous. Loose like morals during the twenties and very shiny. The dresses had strass, sequins and glitter that would sparkle with the lights on the dancefloor. Fringe was also perfect for these outfits, moving everywhere when girls shook it to the beat of charleston and jazz.

DIY: Velvet bow

Looking for Halloween accessories I found a big velvet bow I made a couple years ago for some pictures. It occurred to me that it would be perfect for a vintage inspired headpiece.

Grunge is back for FW 2013-2014

Nineties nostalgia returns covered in flannel. Brands like Rodarte, Saint Laurent or BCBG Max Azria explore the depths of the grunge underground aesthetic with layers of heavy knits mixed with flower printed dresses that could easily be found at goodwill.

In 1992, Steven Meisel captured the soul of this disheveled trend with his Vogue editorial "Grunge & Glory". I now share it with you as the core inspiration for this nineties comeback.

Go chic for Halloween Part 3 (5 ideas de disfraces fáciles)

Along with the requests for more costume ideas for women after post 1 and post 2, here are also some ideas for guys. These would be choices I would definitely wear myself.

The classic spy movie villain is really easy to pull off. Look must be impecable and stylish. Add maybe a facial defect: eye-patch, visible scar, etc. If you're not one to play with make-up then some interesting sunglasses might work.
The finishing touch would be a fluffy cat and a distinctive maniacal laugh.

Go chic for Halloween Part 2 (4 ideas de disfraces fáciles)

Here are four more ideas that challenge the provocative costume cliché.

Alex DeLarge is a classic movie character with an iconic look. There is an informal option and another one that might be a bit more chic. In any case, the key is total white look + boots + bowler hat. A beret can also work, as DeLarge's friends wore. The cane adds a lot of style.
If you are concerned with the make-up, I suggest checking on youtube for tutorials such as this one.

Go chic for Halloween (4 ideas de disfraces fáciles)
